Biography
Katerina Athanasopoulou was born in Athens in 1974 and studied painting at the School of Fine Arts in Thessaloniki. Her passion for the moving image led her to London where in 2002 she took an Animation MA at the Royal College of Art.
She lives in London, directing short experimental films widely screened in International Film Festivals. She also works as an animator and special effects artist, as well as teaching animation, principally at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
In her work she loves to use collage and video; what excites her is the alchemistic mix of still and moving image, word and silence, light and shadow.
